The wife of the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Olayemi Biodun-Oyebanji, has been commended by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode Adebowale, for being a good ambassador of the tertiary institution.
The Vice-Chancellor gave the commendation when Dr. Abiodun-Oyebanji paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor in his office.
Professor Adebowale noted that the wife of the governor had allowed her academic knowledge to have an impact in her relationship and services to the citizens of Ekiti.
He commended Dr. Oyebanji for personally hiring adjunct lecturers to teach her courses in her department in order to mitigate the effect of her being away from the University.
The Vice-Chancellor then prayed that the tenure of Governor Oyebanji in Ekiti would be known for great exploits.
In her remarks, Dr. Biodun-Oyebanji said that she came on the visit to appreciate the University Management for granting her the opportunity to serve the nation as the wife of a governor.
She also expressed thanks for being considered worthy to be elevated to the rank of a Reader (Associate Professor) in the Department of Educational Management by the University’s Appointments and Promotions Committee recently.
She said the elevation had greatly lifted her up in the estimation of all and sundry.
She reiterated her passion for education and her desire to come back to the University after the tenure of her husband, adding that since she became the first lady of Ekiti State she had supervised five PhD graduates and is still co-supervising others.
The Ekiti First Lady is a Reader in the Department of Educational Management, Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan.
She had served as an Assistant Warden of the Queen Idia Hall of Residence. She is currently on leave from the University of Ibadan.
