Active youths in Eti-OSA Local Government Area of Lagos State has promised to mobilise others to cast their votes for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, and Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the second term governor of the state.
They made the promise at the summit organized by active youths in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The summit, according to the youths, was to sensitise young persons in the axis on the likely actions to be taken before and during election, so as to enable all candidates of All progressives Congress (APC) to triumph at the polls.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had said that over 40 percent of youths had collected their voters card, in which Lagos state youths came second after Kano state.
This made the youths in Eti-Osa to deem it necessary to sensitise young persons on the right actions to be taken on election day, so that the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the state governor , Babajide Sanwo-Olu would be winners at the polls.
The convener of the summit, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Hamtajak Group of Companies, Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi, said that Eti Osa has the highest polling units, hence the importance of using the privilege to deliver the candidates of APC from top to bottom.
In his address at summit, the convener said: “It is a honour to stand before you today at the Etiosa Youth Summit, an event that brings together the brightest and most promising young minds in our community.
“As we all know, February 25th and March 11th are very important dates in the history of our state and, indeed, our nation. These are the days when we will be voting for our leaders, the people who will be responsible for the growth and development of our state and our country.
“As we approach these important dates, I am here to urge all of you to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates, particularly our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and our governorship candidate, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu.
“There is no doubt that the APC has done a lot in this country, and Lagos State, in particular. Our presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been a key player in the development of our democracy, and has played a significant role in the growth and progress of our state.
“He has built leaders and helped many people in need. He has also made significant investments in education and infrastructure, which have helped to transform Lagos into the economic hub of West Africa.
“Our governorship candidate, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, has also done a lot to develop Lagos, and has plans to take the state to another level. He has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Lagosians, and has made significant investments in education, healthcare, and transportation. His vision for Lagos is bold and ambitious, and I have no doubt that he will deliver on his promises if re- elected.
“So I urge all of you, the youth of Eti-Osa, to vote for our APC candidates come February 25th and March 11th. But it is not enough to just vote for them, we need to support them in every way possible. You need to talk to your friends, neighbours, family, girlfriend, and even your enemies. Convince them to vote for our candidates and tell them about the good things that they have done for Lagos State and our country.”
Admonishing the youths not to engage in violence during the elections, the convener said: “Let us not forget that violence is not the answer. We need to shun violence during and after the elections. We need to ensure that the elections are peaceful and fair. So let us all come together and vote Asiwaju and Sanwoolu all the way.
“And to the youth of Eti-Osa, I want you to make a commitment today. I want you to tell me that you will deliver your street for Asiwaju and Sanwoolu, and all other APC candidates.
“I want you to promise me that you will do everything in your power to ensure that our candidates win.”
The chairman of APC in Eti-Osa LGA, Aremo Olusegun Oyindamola, in his remarks at the summit, said the party belongs to the youth.
“He who has the youth, has the future. You are our today and our tomorrow. I don’t want you to join youths who are into internet fraud.
“Election is in eight days. On election day, mobilise your friends to vote. It is not a day to play football,” he told the youths.
Corroborating the stance of Honourable Oyindamola, the former LGA Chairman of Eti-Osa, Mr Mudeer Shade Kolawole enjoined the participants to have their PVCs ready to vote for APC candidates.
Aside having PVCs, the former LG chairman urged the youths to mobilise others who also have voters cards to vote on election day for APC candidates.
He continued: “Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu has lifted a lot. When he was a governor, we knew how Lagos was. His blue print is what others follow. We still have a lot of work to do. It is not just our votes that we are after but others’ votes.
“If you have a quarrel with anyone, settle your dispute with them and canvass for votes from them. I urge us to work for Asiwaju, we can get one million votes for him.”
Responding to a question from one Comrade Ridwan Atolagbe on what would be beneficial to the youths in Eti-Osa Local Government after the elections, the convener said that the votes cast could be used in negotiating for juicy positions.
Stakeholders at the event included Alhaji Shakiru Ologolo; Honourable Aremo Segun Oyindasola;
