A 20-year-old man, Ridwan, has been arrested by the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, codenamed So-Safe Corps, for allegedly killing his father, simply known as Ishau, for ritual.
Confirming the arrest in a statement by the So-Safe spokesman, Moruf Yusuf, on Friday, September 1, 2023, on behalf of the Commander, Dr Soji Ganzallo, it was said that on Thursday, August 31, at about 12 midnight, officers of the Corps on routine patrol heard strange noise in a building at Oshoku Village in Ijebu North Local Government Area.
This, the Commander said, led the So-Safe officers into the building to know what was happening.
However, to their shock, they found a man’s lifeless body in a pool of his blood while the alleged killer, on sighting them, immediately fled from the scene.
When the Commander, Ganzallo, was informed, Thenewsbearer learnt that he promptly instructed the Zonal Commander, Ijebu Zonal Command, Marcus Ayankoya, to get the suspected killer, Ridwan arrested.
The efforts of the officers yielded fruit when they apprehended the killer in the bush where he hid.
“He (the suspect) confessed to have killed his father, Ishau, with a rope tied to his neck while he used a knife to remove the needed parts of his body for ritual purpose,” the Commander disclosed.
Ganzallo added that the alleged killer told the officers of the Corps that he only removed his father’s private part, larynx, and four teeth as requested by a ritualist he identified as Baba Kekere.
The Commander further said that the suspect refused to give details about the whereabouts of the ritualist when he was asked.
It was said that Ridwan had been transfered to Ogbere Divisional Headquarters in Ogun State Police Command for further investigation.
