The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, is expected to make a strong statement on youth participation in governance as he signs a Generational Inclusion Pact at the forthcoming Oyo State Emerging Political Leaders Summit.
The pact signing is scheduled to take place during the unveiling of the 50 Below 50 Campaign Project, one of the major highlights of the summit billed for August 24 and 25, 2026, at the Ibadan Civic Centre.
The summit, with the theme, “Bridging the Gap, Uniting Political Strength, and Mobilizing Emerging Leaders for 2027,” is expected to bring together young political leaders, party stakeholders, grassroots organisers, community influencers and other key actors from across the state.
The proposed pact is aimed at strengthening intergenerational collaboration in politics and creating more opportunities for young people to participate meaningfully in leadership and decision-making processes.
For the organisers, the initiative is intended to move beyond rhetoric about youth participation by encouraging political leaders to make concrete commitments towards inclusion, mentorship and the emergence of a new generation of political actors.
The event is also expected to provide a platform for discussions on political reconciliation, grassroots mobilisation and strategic collaboration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
As part of efforts to deepen the political conversation, the summit will feature prominent national figures, including the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, PhD, who will serve as Chief Facilitator.
Adedeji is expected to lead discussions on “Fiscal Renewal, Revenue Mobilization, and the Economic Future of Oyo State in the Context of Nigeria’s Progressive National Agenda.”
The session is expected to examine the relationship between effective political leadership, revenue mobilisation, economic development and sustainable governance in Oyo State.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, is expected to attend as Special Guest of Honour, while the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address.
Wike will speak on “Bridging Political Divides, Building Strategic Alliances, and Mobilizing Oyo State for Progressive Victory in 2027.”
The organisers said the summit will also seek to strengthen the political structure of the APC in Oyo State and mobilise support for the party ahead of the 2027 elections, including the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
With the political landscape in Oyo State already taking shape ahead of 2027, the summit is expected to attract considerable attention, particularly with the planned signing of the Generational Inclusion Pact by the APC governorship candidate.
The initiative could further intensify conversations around youth representation, political succession and the role of emerging leaders in shaping the future of Oyo State politics.
