On all issues relating to menstrual health and hygiene, the wife of the Oyo State governor, Mrs. Tamunominini Olufunke Makinde, is set to host 990 girls on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, to commemorate the Menstrual Hygiene Day held on May 28.
The programme, scheduled to hold at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan, would have 10 students drawn from three schools in each of the 33 Local Government Areas of the state in attendance to go through training.
Also to be at the programme are 99 teachers drawn from the participating schools.
Mrs. Makinde is the chief host of the event tagged: “A Day Out With The Girls Of Oyo State.”
The governor’s wife usually hangs out with girls in the state twice a year since 2020, in commemoration of the Menstrual Hygiene Day, as well as the International Day of the Girl Child which holds on October 11.
According to a statement from the office of the wife of the governor, the event is designed as a day for her to hang out with the girls and enlighten them on menstrual hygiene matters.
There would be facilitators who would train the girls on menstrual hygiene and everything about their menstrual health.
Also, there would be an avenue for questions and answers while the girls in attendance would be given souvenirs and menstrual hygiene products.
The event is expected to have in attendance officials of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, including the Permanent Secretary, Directors and Deputy Directors, as well as officials of the Ministries of Women Affairs, Health and Education in the state.
