Police operatives attached to Ebrumede Division in Delta State Police Command on Thursday, November 17, 2022, recovered five guns and 18 live cartridges found in a tricycle intercepted at about 10pm during a stop-and-search duty.
The tricycle, with registration number Delta EFR 175 VK, was conveying two occupants and heading towards the police checkpoint when it was flagged down the tricycle for a routine check.
The police spokesman in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, who spoke on the interception in a statement said that surprisingly, the two occupants of the tricycle jumped out and escaped from the scene, abandoning the tricycle.
When searched, police were said to have recovered a pump action gun, a locally-made long gun, three locally-made cut-to-size guns, and 18 live cartridges.
The PPRO said efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
