Oyo State Police Command has declared the former chairman of the Park Management System (PMS), Lamidi Mukaila, a.k.a Auxiliary, wanted.
The police said the decision was taken over his alleged involvement in series of armed robbery, kidnapping and murder cases in the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams, at a press briefing in Ibadan on Friday, June 2, 2023, disclosed that more sophisticated arms and ammunition in addition to the those recovered on Tuesday, May 30, at Auxiliary’s Diamond Hotel, Alakia-Isebo, have been recovered.
The Commissioner of Police said: “The general public, particularly the good citizens of Oyo State, is hereby notified that Lamidi Mukaila, a.k.a Auxillary, is wanted by the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command, in connection with cases of attempted murder, causing grievous harm, arms dealing, murder, armed robbery within Oyo State and kidnapping at Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa areas of the state.
“Lamidi Mukaila is an indigene of Oyo State. He was born on the 9th of January, 1962 (61yrs) and dark in complexion.”
The police boss stated that aside from the discovery and recovery of arms, a suspected notorious drug peddler alleged to be working for the ex-PMS chairman was caught in possession of Indian hemp and hard drugs worth millions of naira.
According to him, ‘sequel to the strategic intelligence coordinated raid at Diamond Hotel, Alakia-Isebo, Egbeda LGA, Ibadan, being the criminal hideout of the sacked Park Management System (PMS) chieftain, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi A.K.A Auxiliary on Tuesday 30/05/2023, which led to the arrest of 78 hoodlums and recovery of a large cache of sophisticated firearms and ammunition, further discreet intelligence gathering revealed that some other sophisticated firearm, ammunition and weapons were still concealed in the hideout.
“Acting on the strength of the intelligence, on 31st May 2023, a team of police operatives attached to the Command Monitoring Unit executed a search warrant around the premises of the above-mentioned hotel, and in the process, the following items were recovered, 70 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 400 pieces of live cartridges, out of which 62 have been expended, 13 pieces of 9mm ammunition, two SMG rifles with two magazines and one pump-action rifle.
“Others are nine locally-made pistols, two locally-made English pistols with magazines, nine jack knives, three axes, 400 pieces of long cutlasses, one hammer, one walkie-talkie device, one Army camouflage jacket, one bulletproof with inscription Kiriji Heritage Defence, three long swords, three international passports and a huge cache of criminal charms.
“The list also includes three picture portraits and one traditional crown.”
In a related development, 20 suspects were paraded in connection with reported cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, and other related vices.
The CP added that the suspects would soon appear in court after thorough investigation.
