Ibadan, June 5, 2026 — The Oyo State Police Command has refuted a widely circulated publication containing purported operational details about the recent abduction incident in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area, describing the report as misleading, speculative, and unofficial.
In a statement, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the publication contained alleged identities of suspects, communication interception details, and purported financial transactions linked to the ongoing investigation, none of which originated from the Command or any authorized security agency.
According to the police, the investigation into the abduction remains active, sensitive, and intelligence-driven.
The Command stressed that operational details, identities of suspects, investigative leads, and financial intelligence components are protected to prevent compromising ongoing efforts and to ensure the successful apprehension of all those involved.
”The publication contains numerous operational claims and technical assertions that did not emanate from the Police Command or any constituted security authority involved in the investigation,” the statement said.
The Command cautioned members of the public, bloggers, and online publishers against disseminating unverified or operationally sensitive information capable of misleading the public, creating panic, or undermining security operations.
Police authorities further warned that anyone found deliberately circulating false information, interfering with investigations, or attempting to obstruct security operations would face legal consequences.
The Command urged residents to rely solely on official communication channels for verified updates regarding the case and other security-related matters.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the police assured residents that efforts are ongoing to identify, arrest, and prosecute all individuals connected to the crime in accordance with the law.
