A 45-year-old man, Femi Ola Abraham, was on Friday, April 23, 2021, abducted by 10 gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen, at Oke Arinsa bridge, Konko Village, in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State, while two others managed to escape from the kidnappers.
The incident was said to have occurred at about 7:30am while the victims were in the area on a journey from Ibadan.
The escapees were identified as Olawunmi Michael, aged 32, and 29-year-old Jeje Abiola.
A credible source told Thenewsbearer that after the abduction, a man, simply known as Mr Ogunsina, reported the incident at Ayete police station at about 9am.
On getting the report, police operatives at the station were said to have moved to the scene promptly to bring the two victims who escaped into safety, while their white Nissan vehicle with registration number LSD 338 XK was also recovered.
Shaky about their experiences, the victims were also taken to a hospital in the town by the police, for medical evaluation and treatment.
It was further learnt the Divisional Police Officer of Ayete police station immediately sent operatives into the bush to start searching for the kidnapped victim.
Efforts to speak with the state police image-maker, DSP Adewale Osifeso, for confirmation of the story proved abortive, as his phone line could not be reached.
