A driver, Obinna Nsofor, was on Sunday, October 9, 2022, arrested by police operatives in Benue State Command when they intercepted 38 cartons of Tramadol intercepted in a Toyota Hilux vehicle along Enugu-Otukpo road at about 9:30am.
Confirming the arrest, the police spokeswoman in the state, SP Catherine Anene, said that Nsofor and his partner initially took to their heels when they sighted the police patrol team, they were however chased, resulting in the arrest of one of them.
A search of the vehicle on the spot, according to Anene, led to the recovery of the 38 cartons of Tramadol, an illicit drug.
She said that an investigation was ongoing to identify the source of the drugs and the intended destination.
