Police operatives in Adamawa State Command have arrested two suspected kidnappers, Yakubu Sunday and Yakubu Daniel, alleged of being responsible for kidnapping and related threats within Sarau Belel community, Maiha Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on Saturday, December 27.
Sunday, aged 36; and Daniel, 38 years old, who are brothers, were both residents of Konjoli Village, Maiha Local Government Area before their arrest.
According to the PPRO, before the suspects’ arrest, the Command had received a complaint from one Emmanuel Daniel, a resident of Sagal Village, Sarau Belel, who reported that he was threatened with kidnapping by Sunday and Daniel.
The suspects were alleged to have claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of the complainant’s younger brother, Joshua Daniel, in November 2024.
“Upon the receipt of the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Command, Dankombo Morris, immediately deployed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Sarau Belel, alongside operatives of the Division, to carry out a swift and coordinated operation which led to
the successful arrest of the two suspects,” the PPRO said.
Thenewsbearer learnt that during investigation, the suspects confessed to the allegations and had been giving useful information to the command to aid investigation.
Nguroje stated further: “In furtherance of the investigation, the Commissioner of Police has directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command to take over the case to ensure a thorough and discreet investigation, as well as diligent prosecution of the suspects in accordance with the law.
“The Adamawa State Police Command reassures the good people of the state of its commitment to the protection of lives and property, and calls on members of the public to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information.”
