The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11 Command, with headquarters in Osogbo, Osun State, Mukan Joseph Gobum, on Friday, September 24, 2021, presented N500,000 cheque to Ehinmowo Ademola, the next of kin to late Inspector Ehinmowo Abiodun who died while in service.
This was made known by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Ayeni, in a statement issued same day.
Inspector Abiodun reportedly lost his life during a brief illness.
The AIG, who made the presentation on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, said that the gesture was an initiative of the Police Chief’s ‘Group Life Assurance’ aimed at supporting the families of deceased police officers who died in active service.
“Not that alone, the gesture is also aimed at boosting the morale of all police officers who are still in active service to do more in protecting lives and property of all Nigerians, thereby reclaiming public space from criminal elements, as their welfare is of utmost importance to the current administration of the Force,” Gobum stated.
The AIG expressed appreciation to the IGP for his tireless efforts geared towards ensuring an enduring welfare package for all police personnel, while he urged the beneficiary to make good use of the money in ameliorating the needs of the deceased’s dependants.
The late Inspector‘s wife, who was also present at the event and could not hold back her tears, was also full of praise to IGP Alkali for remembering to ameliorate the suffering of the family.
