A two-day retreat for retired Inspectors General of Police will be holding in Ibadan, Oyo State, at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) from Monday, August 21 to Wednesday August 23, 2023.
The theme of the retreat is: “Intervention of Ex-Inspectors General of Police For Strategic Contribution To Effective Policing In Nigeria.”
In a statement by Ikechukwu Ani, on behalf of the Secretariat Committee of ex-IGPs 2023 Retreat, the programme is expected to attract all retired Inspectors-General of Police; the National Security Adviser, AIG Nuhu Ribadu (rtd), the Chairman of the Police Service Commission Dr. Solomon Arase and the Acting Inspector General of Police, Dr. Olukayode Egbetokun.
The state governor, Seyi Makinde will be the Chief Host.
Several topical papers to be presented at the retreat include Current State of Police Preparedness; Issues, Challenges and Prospects and Strategic actions and steps towards restoring NPF’s primacy in internal security architecture of Nigeria.
The statement read that there will also be a discussion and experience-sharing session on the imperativeness of employing the experienced knowledge of the retired IGPs in the effective management of internal security in Nigeria.
The the Retreat, which is the first in the history of the Committee of Retired Inspectors General of Police, is being convened by its chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Attah, who is also one of the retired IGPs.
