Delta State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has established a Complaints Response Unit (CRU) at the command headquarters in Adana, the state capital.
The establishment, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, is in line with the Inspector General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun’s zero tolerance for corruption, extortion, and abuse of fundamental human rights of Nigerians.
It is also to curb the excesses of police officers, as mandated by the IGP.
Thenewsbearer learnt that all Commissioners of Police have been asked to establish a Complaint Response Unit (CRU) in their respective commands.
In compliance with this directive, the department would work under the supervision of the Police Public Relations Officer in Delta to checkmate the excesses and unprofessional conducts of the police officers operating in the state.
“The CP who understands the need to maintain the highest standards of professionalism in the organization, seeks to rectify any excesses or inappropriate behavior demonstrated by the police officers and men of the command.
“On this note, the public can channel all complaints and relevant information on police actions either by visiting the CRU office at the command headquarters, or by contacting any of the following phone numbers: 09155570008 | 09011112311 | 09064308018 | 09066575187; or via the social media handle: (X – Delta_PoliceCRU; FACEBOOK – DeltaNG CRU INSTAGRAM: @Delta_PoliceCRU); and the official email – deltapolicecru@gmail.com,” Edafe said.
Reaffirming his zero tolerance to the abuse of authority, the police commissioner, through the PPRO, stated that the IGP had shown an unwavering zeal to fight corruption and unprofessionalism, and would not hesitate to promptly sanction any erring officer.
He further encouraged the public to assist in the efficient execution of curbing misconduct, excesses, and unprofessionalism among police officers in the state by collaborating closely with the Complaint Response Unit.
He remarked that the command remains unwavering in its commitment to upholding an environment of transparency, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights in the discharge of duties.
This, he added, would further help in building public trust and promoting a positive working relationship between the police and the people.
