The acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun on Thursday, August 31, 2023, emphasised the need for enhanced synergy in tackling the evolving security challenges facing the Nigerian nation.
The IGP stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Police Affairs to congratulate the newly appointed Ministers and brief them on the internal security situation.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP, who was accompanied by the members of the Force Management Team, fruitful discussions with the Honourable Minister, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, and the Minister of State, Hajia Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, addressing critical issues such as the state of national security, ongoing police reforms, and strategies to enhance collaboration between the NPF and the Ministry of Police Affairs.
Recognising the significance of modernising the NPF and promoting community-oriented policing programmes, Gaidam assured the IGP of the Ministry’s unwavering support towards the implementation of key reforms and initiatives.
He acknowledged the pivotal role played by the police in maintaining law and order, and pledged dedication to providing the necessary resources, infrastructure, and training required for the Force to efficiently discharge its duties and protect the lives and property of all Nigerians.
The IGP, further in his remarks, stated that the visit highlights the undeniable need for collaborative efforts for improved security architecture in the nation.
He reiterated the importance of creating an enabling environment for officers and urged all stakeholders to support the ongoing reform efforts of the current administration.
