Nine days after the abduction of a Chinese national, Mr PengChao Zhang, by armed men, the Kwara State Police Command said that its operatives, in conjunction with vigilantes, has successfully rescued him.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Wednesday, March 20.
According to PPRO, the Chinese, also known as Williams Kaka among his business associates, was kidnapped on Sunday, March 10 when six armed men invaded a guest house at Eiyenkorin Community, Ilorin, where he lodged and forcefully took him away.
“Through diligent and coordinated efforts, the command’s tactical teams and vigilante executed a series of strategic search and investigation, leading to the safe rescue of the victim in the early hours of March 19, 2024.
“The command is pleased to confirm that the victim has since been reunited with his family unharmed. This achievement underscores the unwavering commitment of the Kwara State Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors within the state.
“The Kwara State Police Command, under the undaunted and excellent leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, remains steadfast in pursuing justice and holding accountable those responsible for such criminal act.
“We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly,” DSP Ejire-Adeyemi said.
