Commissioner of Police, Lanre Sikiru Bankole, has been posted to Ogun State Police Command by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali.
The posting came after the retirement of the former Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, after the attainment of 60 years.
A graduate of English language from the prestigious University of Lagos (UNILAG), CP Bankole hails from Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State.
According to the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement issued on Thursday, October 7, 2021, the Commissioner of Police joined the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in March 1990, and has worked in various capacities at different state commands such as Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Oyo, Kogi, Port Authority and Ogun.
The new CP is a familiar face in the state, as he had at different times worked as Divisional Police Officer in Abigi, Sango, Agbara and owode Egba Divisions.
CP Bankole had also served as Area Commander Sagamu, as well as zonal sports officer.
He was at one time the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Port CID at Port Authority Police Command.
When he was promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police, he was posted to interpol section of Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID), Abuja as DC Admin and Investigation from 2017 to 2020.
He got promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police in June 2021 and was posted as CP Interpol, Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Alagbon Lagos, where he served until his current posting.
Bankole attended various professional courses within and outside Nigeria, among which were Junior Command, Intermediate Command, as well as Strategic Leadership and Command at Police Staff College, Jos, Plateau State.
He also attended financial crime course at Administrative Staff College (ASCON), Badagry, as well as United Nations logistics officer’s course at Koffi Annan Peacekeeping and Training Centre, Ghana.
The CP holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Literature from University of Lagos. He also has LL.B in law from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye and BL from Nigeria Law School, Lagos.
He is happily married and the marriage is blessed with children.
CP Bankole assumed duty immediately with a visit to the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Thursday.
