With the resolve to enforce traffic laws, particularly on those who drive against traffic, operate in areas prohibited for motorcycles (okada) and constitute nuisance, the Lagos State Police Command has, within a week, impounded 76 motorcycles on Eko bridge Apongbon bridge, Alaka bridge intersection and other areas.
According to the command’s spokesman, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, in a statement on Thursday, August 19, 2021, the special operation began on August 11, 2021, and the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had directed that all the impounded motorcycles should be taken to the Lagos State Taskforce for further necessary actions.
Ajisebutu also said that the Commissioner of Police reiterated his warning to all cyclists and motorists with unbridled penchant for violating traffic laws with impunity, to desist from their unlawful acts or risk arrest.
Odumosu added that the special operation would continue until sanity is restored on Lagos roads.
