The life of a middle-aged man, Akinlolu Ajayi, who decided to end it all in Lagos State, has been saved by police officers in the command, in the demonstration of their commitment to the protection of lives and property of the citizens.
Making this known in a statement on Saturday, September 18, 2021, the police image-maker in the state, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu said that the attempt was made on Wednesday, September 15, at about 9:25am when Ajayi, aged 54 and a staff member of LSDPC Town Planning, Ilupeju, was seen on the Third Mainland Bridge trying to jump into the lagoon at the UNILAG waterfront.
The anti-crime patrol team of the Bariga Police Division which was on a routine patrol of the area, was said to have sighted the man and immediately went to rescue him.
The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, also directed that the man’s family should be contacted for necessary action, just as he appealed to members of the public not to end their lives, no matter the challenges they could currently facing.
