Oyo, Ekiti NUJ, NAWOJ, FIBAN, RATTAWU mourn

Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has expressed shock over the death of the General Manager, Fresh FM, Ado-Ekiti, Mr David Ajiboye.

In a statement made available to newsmen by the Special Assistant (Print Media) to the Governor, Moses Alao, Makinde described the sudden demise of Ajiboye as a painful loss, praying to God to grant the chairman of the Fresh FM stations, Dr YinkaAyefele, the Ajiboye family  and the management of the FM stations the fortitude to bear the loss.

The governor, who equally prayed for the repose of the soul of the renowned media and entertainment chief, also expressed his condolences to the family he left behind.

The statement quoted the governor as saying that the late Ajiboye was a vivacious and easy going man, always full of life and ever so ready to advance the cause of the Fresh FM stations.

“I am shocked by the news of the death of Mr. David Ajiboye, the General Manager, Fresh FM, Ado-Ekiti, after a brief illness.

“I commiserate with my friend and chairman of Fresh FM, Evangelist (Dr) Yinka Ayefele, and the management of the Fresh FM stations on the death of such a vibrant, trusted and dependable ally as Ajiboye.

“I also express my heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late media and entertainment chief.

“I got to know Ajiboye many years ago and ever since I knew him, he had always been one vivacious and lively individual, who stands solidly by whatever he believes.

“Ajiboye was a good ambassador of the Fresh FM and certainly one its greatest defenders in all seasons. Having paid his dues as an entertainment reporter with the Tribune titles, Ajiboye further became a respected publicist and made a success of advancing Fresh FM’s cause.

“It is my prayer that God grants everyone close to him the fortitude to bear this great loss,” Makinde said.

The Oyo and Ekiti states chapters of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) also commiserated with Fresh FM and the Ajiboye family over the loss.

In the statement, the chairman of Ekiti NUJ, Rotimi Ojomoyela, said the death of Ajiboye came as a rude shock to the union, as he was a very diligent and humble journalist who had also shown rare support to NUJ since his deployment in Ekiti.

“It became more pathetic because Ajiboye died at a time his life was blossoming.

“We pray God to grant the immediate family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, while we also pray God to continue to protect members of the union.”

The Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), in its statement, sympathized with the NUJ on the demise of “our brother, colleague and friend who passed away today after a brief illness.

“To us this shock is heavy in our hearts and we know that it has thrown the NUJ members in a mourning mood.

“I must say David Ajiboye was a good man and easy going, it’s really painful.

“May God give Oyo NUJ and Fresh FM family the fortitude to bear this great loss,” Kayode Babatuyi, NAWOJ secretary said.

The chairman of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Oyo State Chapter, Seun Awodele has commiserated with the Fresh FM family over the loss of their Ekiti Station Head, David Ajiboye.

According to the press statement issued by Ambassador Taiwo Oguntoye, the media and publicity aide to the FIBAN chairman, he described the death of Ajiboye described as a rude shock to the entire broadcasting industry.

Awodele commiserated with Evangelist Yinka Ayefele, owner of Fresh FM, the family of the late David Ajiboye and the entire entertainment Industry for the great loss.

Earlier in announcing the demise, the management of Fresh FM, in a statement signed by Samson Akindele, said: “With heavy heart, the management and staff of Fresh FM Nigeria and Merry Makers Band, announce the sudden and sad demise of our Station Manager at Fresh 106.9 FM, Ado Ekiti, Mr David Ajiboye.

“Mr Ajiboye died this Sunday (August 8, 2021) evening at an Ibadan-based hospital after a brief illness which lasted for a few days.

“Mr Ajiboye was a foundation member of the music arm of Yinka Ayefele Limited as the Publicist to Dr. YinkaAyefele and the Merry Makers Band.

“He was a prominent person who assisted Dr. YinkaAyefele as a partner and later as a management staff member of Fresh 105.9 FM, Ibadan from the ideation period to fruition in 2015.

“We are, indeed, devastated by this sad event which has also affected our operations. Kind bear with us at this trying time.”
