•Urges governors to ensure security of lives, property as CSOs
The national executive council of the Northern Youth Democratic Network (NYDN) has passed a vote of confidence on the former deputy speaker Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Babangida S.M. Nguroje, describing him as fit for a position in the Federal Executive Council.
This, the organization said, was needed to be done at a time President Muhammadu Buhari needs competent youths to assist him in his job of forging Nigeria ahead positively.
The youth organisation made the call on Thursday, September 2, 2021, in a statement signed by its national president, Dauda Mathias and the secretary, Yahaya Abdullahi, after
an emergency meeting held in Abuja.
According to Mathias, “Rt. Hon. Nguroje is not only a useful and active youth that has touched so many lives, irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliation, he is equally competent and credible to fit in and be part of the Federal Executive Council, especially in this present challenging time that our nation is in dire need of loyal, honest and dedicated servant-leaders to assist President Mohammadu Buhari.
“It is in the light of the above that we have passed a vote of confidence on Babangida Nguroje as a credible replacement for ministerial nominee from Taraba State.
“We are, therefore, calling on Mr President and stakeholders to listen to our appeal. Having served the people of Taraba State in the green chamber and performed well, we believe he will do more and better if given further responsibility of this nature.”
The NYDN noted that it played an active and significant role in President Buhari’s victories in the 2015 and 2019 elections, hence its advice on the appointment of a credible youth.
Born in Nguroje, Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State, Babangida Nguroje has credibly represented the good people of Kurmi, Gashaka, and Sardauna Federal Constituency of Taraba State between 2003 to 2011.
In another development, the organization called on the various state governors to wake up to their responsibilities as the chief security officers of their respective states to ensure the protection of lives and property of their indigenes.
It also condemned the killings, kidnaping and ethnic clashes ravaging most of the parts of the country, especially the recent uprising in Plateau State in North Central part of Nigeria.
At the Abuja meeting, the NYDN deliberated on the state of the nation in terms of security, economy, politics and youth empowerment.
The organization said that the deliberation was to appraise, advise and criticise the government where necessary, “so as to position our dear country on the speed lane towards the restoration of peace and security, economy prosperity and political stability.”
Commending security agencies for their achievements so far in tackling crime and criminality, the youth organization urged them not to rest on their oars but put more efforts and be more dedicated.
On the sack of the Ministers of Agriculture and Power, The Northern Youth Democratic Network described it as a right step in the right direction, commending the courage and decision of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It appealed to the president to do more by relieving any political appointee, whose performance would not be in consonance with the country’s current reality and expectations, of their duties.
