Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Ngozi Onadeko, on Friday, March 26, 2021, took the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination, just as she enjoined all police officers and men in the state command to ensure that they take theirs, in order to avoid contracting the virus due to the nature of their job.
Giving the advice while receiving the jab during the formal flag-off of the Covid-19 vaccination for police officers and men in the state command, Onadeko gave an assurance of safety of the vaccine, saying that she didn’t feel any pain, and that it was better for the police to take it.
She also said that the vaccine would go a long way in protecting police officers and men who are always on the frontline and meeting people everyday.
The state police boss added: “Everybody should come out and take it. I’ve done so for about 15 minutes now and I’m not feeling any pain.”
She said further that a police officer who is a medical doctor, and in charge of medical matters, would make sure that all officers and men in the metropolis, local government areas and outposts get vaccinated.
When asked how the police operatives outside the metropolis would get their jabs, Onadeko said that they would be given the vaccine in their local government areas.
She expressed appreciation to health officials who were being taken to every police area command, saying that she was confident that all officers and men would be vaccinated.
Officers who also got vaccinated included the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Wale Abass; Deputy Commissioner, Operations, Abubakar Lawal; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Titus Musa Samuel; Assistant Commissioner of Police, Administration, Gabriel Dibie and the state police image-maker, CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi, among others.
