Police operatives attached to Ikorodu Division in Lagos State Police Command, in collaboration with local vigilantes, have arrested a suspected cultist, Fatai Kalejaiye, aged 25, during the initiation of one Kolapo Ayeobasan (20).

The arrest was made on Monday, April 19, 2021, at about 7.30pm.

Kalejaiye was a resident of 21, Igbelara area of Ikorodu, while Ayeobasan was residing at 4, Anifowose Street, at the same Ikorodu.

The state police image-maker, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday, April 20, said in a statement that Kalejaiye, who confessed to being a member of Eye Confraternity, was caught while initiating the second suspect, Ayeobasan.

In the same vein, police operatives attached to Ipakodo Division, Ikorodu, nabbed four suspected cultists.

They were identified as Sunday Megasan (16), Demilade Matiminu (24), Oladimeji Orimoloye (19) and Akinmoye Emmanuel (24).

According to the PPRO, the suspects were picked as a result of a complaint received from a lady, Temidire Ogunbajo, of 4, Abejoye Street, Majidun, Ikorodu area, that some suspected armed cultists invaded her house and attacked her and other residents of Majidun community, Ikorodu, on April 16, at 8.30am.

Adejobi said that the police were joined by local security operatives in Ikorodu, arresting one after the other between April 16 and 18, while others went into hiding.

Items recovered from them included a chisel, a cutlass, broken bottles, charms and some offensive weapons.
He stated further that the suspects would be transferred to the Command’s Special Squad for further investigation, on the order of the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu.

He added that Odumosu also ordered that the fleeing members of the gangs be apprehended, so that they would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
