Delta State Police Command, on Thursday, October 24, found the corpse of a 23-year-old lady, Miss Precious Yusuf, along DLA Road, opposite Falcon Club, Asaba.
Thenewsbearer learnt that the lady had been to the residence of a male friend she met on a dating site on a visit on Tuesday, October 22 before she was found lifeless less than 48 hours after.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the story, said the Divisional Police Officer in charge of ’A’ Division, Asaba, CSP Rex Abiodun, got the report on Thursday at about 8:40am, and promptly led police operatives to the scene where it was found.
Edafe said that preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased told her friend on Tuesday, October 22, that she was going to see a male friend she met on iHappy dating website.
Having left for the male friend’s house at Coka area, the PPRO said that the lady reportedly called her friend on October 23 at about 7:30am that she was on her way back home.
Unfortunately, that was the last time she made a contact, as her corpse was found the following day.
The PPRO disclosed that the lady’s remains had been deposited in a mortuary, awaiting autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda, in his comment, said that detectives had commenced investigation on the homicide case, assuring members of the public, particularly the family of the deceased, of justice.
He advised young ladies to be mindful of the friends they hang out with, urging them to exercise caution, particularly when dealing with people they meet on dating websites and other social media platforms.
