The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, has directed the Commissioner of Police, Osun State, Olaleye Faleye, to investigate the alleged assault on woman Inspector Olorunsogo Bamidele by her Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) in Ode Omu, Osun State.
Disclosing the IGP’s order in s statement on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that necessary action would follow the report on the investigation being awaited from Osun State Police Command by the IGP.
The IGP gave the general public an assurance that justice would be done on the case to protect the core values and ethics of the police force.
Meanwhile, the Osun CP Faleye has directed the investigation of the incident to unravel the circumstances that led to what was described as unethical behaviours.
The police spokeswoman in the command, SP Yemisi Opalola, who made this known in a statement on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, said that the police commissioner had interviewed the police officers involved.
CP Faleye reiterated the IGP’s assurance to members of the public that justice would prevail on the matter.
A viral video trending on the social media
had shown the female police Inspector, Olorunsogo Bamidele alleging an assault on her by the Divisional Crime Officer at Ode Omu Division, ASP Ajayi Mathew.
From the video, she had wounds and bruises on her body, with her inner shirt torn, which she said was done to her by the DCO who was angry for her refusal to date him because she is married.
