The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Mineral Development Agency, Honourable Abiodun Oni, has reacted to a viral video on social media, on illegal gold mining activities going on in Ibadan, Oyo State, which circulated on Thursday, March 18, 2021, saying that the visual will be subjected to proper scrutiny to ascertain its authenticity.
Oni, in a statement issued on Friday, March 19, on the said video, said that the information in the said video had yet to be ascertained, and would be thoroughly investigated.
The video had shown a particular location where the illegal mining was ongoing, pointing out that the Fulanis were the ones behind the activities.
The video recorded it that the Fulanis were allegedly ejected from the area by the indigenes.
Oni said that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, which is determined to improve the economy of the state, would not fold its arms and allow unscrupulous elements to thwart his determination to take the state out of poverty to prosperity.
He added that the peace and security being enjoyed by citizens and residents of the state would not be allowed being jeopardized by those who had determined to create a chaotic atmosphere in the state.
