Sunday, April 5, 2026 — The Taraba State Police Command has arrested suspects in connection with the killing of three police officers in Donga Local Government Area of the state.
The arrest followed intensified security operations after gunmen attacked a police team in Tor-Damisa community, where the officers were ambushed while responding to a distress call.
According to police authorities, the officers were deployed alongside other security operatives to restore order after reports of an attack on a nearby village. On arrival, they were engaged in a fierce gun battle by suspected bandits, leading to the deaths of three officers.
The incident, which also claimed the life of a local vigilante leader, sparked outrage and prompted a manhunt for the perpetrators.
Police sources confirmed that suspects linked to the attack have now been apprehended in separate operations.
Some of those arrested were reportedly intercepted while attempting to flee, while arms and ammunition were also recovered during the raids.
The Commissioner of Police in the state described the arrests as a breakthrough in the investigation, assuring residents that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects and ensure justice for the slain officers.
He also reiterated the command’s commitment to strengthening security across the state, urging members of the public to provide credible information to aid ongoing operations.
The police further extended condolences to the families of the deceased officers, describing them as personnel who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
