The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released the names and photographs of 124 Nigerians listed for deportation as part of its ongoing immigration enforcement operations targeting foreign nationals convicted of serious crimes.
The affected individuals were included in what the DHS describes as its “worst-of-the-worst” criminal register, a database highlighting non-citizens arrested and processed for removal by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
According to U.S. authorities, those listed have been convicted of various criminal offences, although specific details of the crimes committed by each individual were not disclosed.
The latest publication represents an increase from previous deportation lists released earlier in the year, reflecting the continued expansion of immigration enforcement measures under the U.S. government’s deportation programme.
Earlier updates had identified 79 Nigerians for removal before the figure rose to 97, 110, and now 124.
DHS said the exercise forms part of broader efforts to remove non-citizens with criminal records from the United States.
The agency noted that ICE officers are carrying out deportation proceedings in line with federal immigration laws and enforcement priorities.
While the U.S. government has made public the identities and photographs of those affected, officials have not announced a timeline for their deportation or provided further information regarding individual cases.
The development has attracted attention in Nigeria, given the growing number of Nigerian nationals appearing on U.S. deportation registers in recent months. Immigration observers say the move underscores Washington’s intensified focus on criminal immigration enforcement and compliance with visa and residency regulations.
Authorities have urged foreign nationals residing in the United States to comply with immigration laws and visa conditions, warning that violations could result in enforcement actions, including deportation.
