Commissioner of Police in Zamfara State command, Hussaini Rabiu, on Thursday, May 20, 2021, made moves towards repositioning and strengthening the existing crime fighting strategies by holding an interactive meeting with all police tactical commanders.
The meeting was held at the police command headquarters in Gusau, the state capital.
Speaking on the meeting in a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Mohammed Shehu, said that its essence was to enable the Commissioner of Police to have an overview of the operational strength and capacity of police tactical units
deployed to various locations across the state.
This, the PPRO stated, was to make sure that appropriate adjustments could be designed to enhance their performance.
In his opening remarks, Rabiu charged the tactical commanders to be alive to their responsibilities by ensuring constant supervision of their troops, so that members of the public could feel the impact of their deployment.
He further called on them to be good ambassadors of Force, through hard work and commitment, and also work in synergy with other security agencies and host communities.
“The Commissioner of Police equally warned that the command under his watch would have zero tolerance for human rights violation, currupt practices and other unprofessional conduct,” the PPRO said.
The police boss promised that the leadership of the command, in collaboration with the state government, would do everything possible to improve the personnel’s welfare, adding that any member of the Force who fails to adhere with the constitutional provision and other professional ethics of the Force would be decisively dealt with.
The Command also called on the general public to be law abiding, asking parents and guardians to warn their wards against any act of criminality, as the police would not fold their arms and allow unscrupulous elements to undermine the peace and security of the state.
“Any useful information should be channelled to the office of the Commissioner of Police, or Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers across the state for prompt action,” the PPRO added.
